Questions about .dev
How much does a .dev domain cost?
€20.99 for the first year and €15.99 for each renewal year, in euros before VAT. VAT is added at payment where it applies. Our price is our registrar's cost plus 30 %, never less than cost plus 2 EUR.
Who can register a .dev domain?
Anyone, anywhere. There is no residence rule.
What happens when a .dev domain expires?
After expiry it stops working, and you can still renew it at the normal price for 40 days. After that, the .dev name is deleted and anyone can register it. We email the owner 30 and 7 days before expiry, and the domain can be renewed from the dashboard or by an agent at any time before.
Can I transfer a .dev domain to another registrar?
Yes. Get its transfer code from the dashboard or with the get_auth_code tool, and give it to the new registrar. When an agent asks for the code, the owner confirms it from an email and sees the code on that page; the agent never gets it. Where the registry has a transfer lock, unlock the domain first. Under ICANN's Transfer Policy, a registrar may refuse a transfer in the 60 days after a registration or a previous transfer.
How are disputes over a .dev name settled?
Disputes over a name go through the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP), with an approved provider such as WIPO.
